Interviews
'Roof Over Our Heads' is a student project, in collaboration with peers, that focuses on the struggling housing market within South Florida. As housing demands, interest rates, and prices continue to inflate over the years, Florida residents continue to maintain a roof over their heads. The following audio clips are mock podcasts that were personally developed.
Edward Ned Murray: Economist
While locals are struggling to find affordable housing within South Florida, economists are trying to look into the issue and find out the root cause of this crisis. We interviewed one of these experts - Edward Ned Murrary, an FIU economist who specializes in South Florida housing. He calls out the detrimental tolls that investors are taking on the housing market and what the future might look like for future homebuyers.
Janet D Leon: Long-term Homebuyer
The experience of buying a home back then is completely different from today's experience. Janet de Leon bought a home 25 years ago so she helped us compare and contrast the experience in home ownership 20 years ago to now. From mortgage rates to the types of available housing, we go back in time to look into home buying within the late 1990s.
